Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair and Debris
A robot vacuum that is able to collect pet hair and debris from all types of floors is a necessity if you have pets. Look for features such as an obstacle avoidance feature that is reactive and mobile control.
Fur is shed by cats and dogs, which can be spread on hard floors or embedded into carpets. This is difficult for robots to recognize.
1. Neato D9
The Neato D9 robot cleaner is one of most advanced available. It comes with an onboard camera that maps the area and then vacuums up and down in a logical manner until it has cleaned every inch of your floor. This makes it easy to clean up even difficult-to-access areas like under furniture or on the stairs. It also does a great job of removing pet hair and dust.
The D9 has a huge coverage area and can clean up to 1,600 square feet of space on a single charge, which makes it ideal for homes with medium-sized spaces. It also has a premium brushed black finish that looks good in any house. best robot vacuum for pet hair wirecutter D9 isn't as strong than some of the other robotic vacuums we tested in our tests, but it's capable of picking up a lot of dirt and debris. The helix multi-surface brush on it is 70% larger than those found on many round robotic vacuums, which makes it much more effective at cleaning up particles and other debris.
SmartLiDAR navigation is another feature that sets D9 apart from other robot cleaners. It utilizes the same technology that is used by self-driving cars to map out and navigate your home. The D9 can clean your home more efficiently than robots with cameras because it can see more of your home and avoid obstacles when lighting is dim.
If you do not want the D9 to mark certain areas of your home off the cleaning list, you can draw virtual boundaries on a map using the app. The D9 will then be able to either stay clear of these areas or clean them more often. It can also detect pet messes on bare floors and clean them up.
The D9 can also clean your grout, which is useful for those who have a tile or vinyl floor in your home. Although it's not as efficient as some of the other robot vacuums in removing pet hair from carpeted floors, it does well.
The D9 was able stay in the same spot for more than three-hours, which was superior to any robot vacuum I have tested. However, it did have to return to the charging station once its battery was at 15 percent.
2. Eufy RoboVac ElevenS
If you're on a tight budget and need a robotic vacuum to clean your hard floors the Eufy RoboVac 11S is an excellent option. It's also one of the most affordable robot vacuums available currently, much less than older Eufy models or other machines that are made by lesser-known brands. The 11S is compact elegant, stylish, and easy to use, and has a decent dust compartment.
It has the same basic design of the eufy 30C we reviewed last year but is smaller and has slightly larger suction power (2kPa instead of. 1.7). The 11S does not have a built-in robot mop or advanced navigation features as the more expensive Roomba machines. It runs an app for smartphones and a remote control that lets you manually direct it.
The 11S can be programmed to clean specific rooms or the entire house. It also comes with a spot cleaning mode that allows you to select one zone for two minutes of intensive vacuuming. Edge cleaning is another useful feature that lets you concentrate on the edges of your room.
The 11S is easy to maintain. It has a large dirt storage container that doesn't need to be regularly emptied, and its battery life is great. It's also prone to drop off its charging dock once it's full, so you'll need to secure the wires around the dock using zip tie. The absence of a 'dust box full' indicator means that you'll need to check the dust bin on a regular basis but it shouldn't take long.
Comparatively to the eufy 30-C The 11S is a better built unit, incurs lower costs for recurring repairs and has a larger dirt compartment, and can remove more dirt from plain floors to low-pile carpet. It is also simpler to maintain and performs better in general cleaning carpets, particularly. Its BoostIQ feature automatically changes between Standard power and Max power settings depending on the surface you are cleaning. Anti-collision sensors keep the 11S from hitting furniture, and it can be set to automatically return to its original setting when the battery is low. It took about an hour to charge fully, and has a long runtime.
3. Roomba j7+ from iRobot
The j7 series of iRobot is the company's most intelligent mop and robot vacuum combo. It utilizes PrecisionVision navigation to spot obstacles and avoid them, while avoiding blind spots where other robotic vacuums might get stuck. It also analyzes your home's layout and uses it to improve its cleaning performance over time. It can be controlled using the iRobot app, and also integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant, making it easy to use with voice commands.
We put the j7+ Combo through its tests on our obstacle course and found it to be one of the most capable robotic cleaners for both floors with a low pile and bare floors. Its maneuverability and cleaning pattern are well-organized and it will return to its docking station once finished. Its hazard detection feature is effective in avoiding objects such as cords. However, it is prone to become stuck on tassels of rug or struggle to climb over carpets with high piles.
The iRobot j7+ features a self emptying dust bin that dumps its contents into the docking station once it's full. This means that there is less requirement for manual maintenance. The J7+ Combo has a wide range of mopping capabilities, which includes the ability to clean both soft and hard surfaces. The dual rubber brush bars are pliable and can handle most messy messes. They also help to avoid getting caught in hair, whether it's human or animal.
The iRobot j7+ is quiet, registering no more than 64db on our decibel meter while it cleans. The j7+ is quiet when cleaning with a decibel level of just 64 decibels. This is in line with the volume of normal conversations, and is much less than what we've heard from other robots.
The j7+ isn't the most efficient robot for flooring that is unfinished and fabrics with low pile however it's a solid option for most homes. Its ability to avoid pet waste and other obstacles makes it a good choice for those who own pets, or dogs and its clever navigation features make it easy to set up and use.
4. Deebot X2 Omni

Ecovacs' Deebot X2 Omni is an all-in-one robot vacuum and mop, with a sleek low profile, powerful cleaning power, and intelligent navigation. It's the first robotic vaccum and mop to include dual-laser LiDAR navigation completely enclosed into the body of the device, which allows for faster mapping, better response, and more precise cleaning. The X2 also comes with upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 and TrueMapping 3.0 which combine advanced dynamic obstacle avoidance and path-mapping to offer a complete home-cleaning solution for all floors. The X2 also features pet-friendly AI that recognizes and identifies pets in the household, allowing it to tailor the cleaning process to the needs of your family.
The X2's unique design with a square shape and integrated edge detection sensors permit it to get close up to corners and walls. It can clean both tiles and hardwood floors at the same time. But unlike other robots that automatically wash their rotating pads with hot water, the X2's rotating pad is soaked in 131 degrees F water. This lets it dry the pads between uses, extending their lifespan and enhancing their performance.
The X2 is operated by a free mobile application that allows you to schedule and plan cleaning sessions. The app is simple and easy to use however it lacks some of the advanced features that are found in other robots. While the X2 can clean in a grid pattern, our tests showed that it cleaned in a more haphazard way and sometimes missed a dust pile or dirt that was right in front of us.
The X2 is very simple to maintain. It returns to its docking station to automatically wash and dry its mop pad, and empty the dust bin. It can also recognize its charging station, and return to it to recharge. This allows you to keep your house filled with fresh cleaning power over a period of weeks. Its biggest drawback is its size which makes it difficult to find the right place to charge.
